about me

Meet the maker…

Growing up in the New Forest, England, amongst the trees and in a family of craftsman and designers, Stuart’s appreciation of nature and his experience of working with wood, began at a young age.

From the peaceful countryside to the world of luxury property development in London, Stuart spent 20 years working on projects for demanding, high-net-worth clients from all over the world. Here he honed his appreciation of exceptional design, materials and workmanship.

Now working from his studio located in the foothills of Brisbane’s Mount Coot-tha, Stuart takes inspiration from his journey and the surrounding environment, to deliver timeless furniture, of the highest quality, that works with the nature that surrounds him.

the process

TIMELESS BESPOKE FURNITURE

Working by hand means that I can maintain quality through every step of the build. From hand selecting the best pieces of rough lumber, to feeling every flaw or change of grain direction in the timber as I work. I practice continuous quality control and will make sure that the piece is built with optimal strength and aesthetic quality.

I use hand tools extensively, employing traditional joinery techniques which have been practiced and refined by craftsmen for thousands of years. While the quality of a hand tooled finish can not be matched, I embrace a modern approach where it is brings an appropriate advantage I use 3D CAD software to model each piece and ensure the machinery in my studio are maintained and calibrated to ensure the exacting tolerances required to produce heirloom quality fine furniture.
